Brian Whitehurst is Chief of Staff and Global Head of Regulatory Affairs at Liberty City Ventures, where he works across multiple verticals including LP relations, portfolio company advisement, investment analysis, and legal strategy. He is a recognized legal and policy voice in digital assets, with particular expertise in blockchain, tokenization, DeFi, AI, and FinTech. At Liberty City Ventures, he also advises global regulators on the development of digital asset legislation and frameworks, helping shape policy at the intersection of technology and financial markets. Prior to joining Liberty City Ventures, he spent 12 years as an Assistant Attorney General in the Investor Protection Bureau of the New York Attorney General’s Office, where he led the office’s crypto and blockchain practice. He spearheaded landmark actions and settlements, including those involving Tether, Bitfinex, and BlockFi, and co-authored the Virtual Markets Integrity Initiative—the world’s first comprehensive review of major crypto trading platforms. Earlier in his career, he served as International & Domestic Logistics Lead for the Office of U.S. President Bill Clinton, acting as a liaison between the President’s office and heads of state, senior government officials, business leaders, and global nonprofit organizations. He is a frequent speaker at conferences around the world, where he has moderated and participated in panels on digital asset regulation, tokenization, investment strategies, and the future of blockchain innovation.
