Superchief Gallery NFT
Edward Zipco attended Pratt Institute from 1999 to 2003. From 2001 to 2009, he worked as a photographer for VICE, publishing street photography, fashion, editorial, and commercial work. During this time, he also collaborated with VICE’s in-house marketing and advertising agency, VIRTUE, to concept and run campaigns from 2007 to 2009. A published author, he wrote The Adventures of Darius & Downey, the first book of narrative nonfiction short stories on street art, published by Thames & Hudson and sold globally — including at The Museum of Modern Art gift shop. Over 15 years ago, he and co-founder Bill Dunleavy established Superchief as an arts organization with a five-story cultural hub in Brooklyn, NY. Since 2009, Superchief Gallery has expanded to New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, and Tokyo, hosting galleries and large-scale art events. On March 25, 2021, he launched Superchief Gallery NFT in New York City, establishing the world’s first physical NFT gallery. In February 2024, he launched Superchief Gallery San Francisco — the world’s first Ordinals gallery — in partnership with Bitcoin Magazine to celebrate their first issue on Ordinals, featuring a live taping of HELL MONEY podcast hosted by Casey Rodarmor, creator of Ordinals. Since opening, Superchief Gallery NFT has collaborated with Christie’s Auction House to host the first-ever CryptoPunk auction, netting over $17 million for a lot of nine highly prominent NFTs. Superchief has also partnered with leading NFT marketplaces including OpenSea, MakersPlace, and Foundation to curate and produce their first-ever in-person NFT exhibitions in 2021. Additionally, Superchief worked with the United Nations on its first NFT release and exhibition. He and Superchief have since co-founded and partnered on major NFT conferences around the world, including NFT LA, NFT Rome, NFT Korea, and NFT Japan, and in 2025, he stepped in as the official Art Director for NFT NYC. Most recently, he has taken on the role of Digital Art Director for the new multi-million-dollar digital arts space at Pier 59 in New York City, with programming set to begin this fall.
